Convert KMZ to GeoJSON

Move compressed Google Earth vector data into a lightweight FeatureCollection suitable for browsers and APIs.

Upload one .kmz file.

How this conversion works

The KMZ archive is validated, its KML vector content is read and geometry plus compatible attributes are written as WGS 84 GeoJSON.

KMZ is a ZIP package around KML. Vector features can be converted, while bundled icons, image overlays and 3D models are presentation assets rather than GIS feature geometry.

What the GeoJSON result contains

GeoJSON is written in WGS 84 by default for reliable use in browsers and web-mapping libraries. Geometry and properties share one FeatureCollection.

Check before you use the result

  • Photos, icons, overlays and 3D models inside KMZ are not GeoJSON feature geometry.
  • KML-specific style and folder presentation do not have a direct GeoJSON equivalent.

GeoVerto reports the detected format, feature count and coordinate-system evidence before starting the job. Treat a low-confidence or missing CRS as a data question to resolve, not a value the converter should silently guess.
