How this conversion works

GPX point and line content is written as KML placemarks. Names, descriptions, elevation and time fields are carried where the two schemas have a compatible field.

GPX has distinct layers for waypoints, routes and tracks and only a small fixed attribute vocabulary. It has no polygon representation.

What the KML result contains

KML is written in WGS 84 for Google Earth. You can map suitable attributes to the visible placemark name and description; other attributes remain ExtendedData where supported.

Check before you use the result

  • A GPX file can contain several populated layers; a single-layer target may require choosing one logical layer.
  • Device-specific GPX extensions do not always have an equivalent KML field.

GeoVerto reports the detected format, feature count and coordinate-system evidence before starting the job. Treat a low-confidence or missing CRS as a data question to resolve, not a value the converter should silently guess.
