Convert KMZ to KML
Open the XML-based map document inside a KMZ when a script, text editor or downstream tool requires plain KML.
Upload one .kmz file.
How this conversion works
GeoVerto validates the archive and writes the vector document as uncompressed KML in the same WGS 84 coordinate system.
KMZ is a ZIP package around KML. Vector features can be converted, while bundled icons, image overlays and 3D models are presentation assets rather than GIS feature geometry.
What the KML result contains
KML is written in WGS 84 for Google Earth. You can map suitable attributes to the visible placemark name and description; other attributes remain ExtendedData where supported.
Check before you use the result
- Plain KML is larger than KMZ because it is not compressed.
- Assets bundled beside the KML, such as icons or photos, are not embedded into the plain vector output.
GeoVerto reports the detected format, feature count and coordinate-system evidence before starting the job. Treat a low-confidence or missing CRS as a data question to resolve, not a value the converter should silently guess.
