Convert DGN to Shapefile
Deliver MicroStation drawing elements in a GIS format accepted by older software and established exchange processes.
Upload one .dgn file.
How this conversion works
Supported elements are interpreted in the source CRS you select, transformed to the chosen target CRS (WGS 84 by default) and separated by base geometry type into complete Shapefile sets.
DGN stores MicroStation drawing elements and levels, not a dependable GIS CRS declaration. The source CRS must be supplied so that output coordinates are not merely plausible-looking but wrong.
What the Shapefile result contains
The download is a ZIP containing the required .shp, .shx, .dbf and .prj sidecars. Shapefile permits only one geometry type per layer and limits field names to ten characters.
Check before you use the result
- Choose the source CRS from project documentation; a wrong choice creates plausible but misplaced geometry.
- Shapefile cannot retain MicroStation presentation and limits DBF field names to ten characters.
GeoVerto reports the detected format, feature count and coordinate-system evidence before starting the job. Treat a low-confidence or missing CRS as a data question to resolve, not a value the converter should silently guess.
