How this conversion works

GeoVerto interprets drawing coordinates in the CRS you select, transforms them to WGS 84 and writes KML placemarks.

DXF coordinates are drawing units without an embedded CRS. GeoVerto therefore requires the source CRS instead of guessing; CAD layer, colour and element information can be carried as attributes where the target permits it.

What the KML result contains

KML is written in WGS 84 for Google Earth. You can map suitable attributes to the visible placemark name and description; other attributes remain ExtendedData where supported.

Check before you use the result

  • DXF itself does not identify the source CRS; guessing can move every feature by hundreds of kilometres.
  • CAD annotations, dimensions and complex block presentation do not all have KML equivalents.

GeoVerto reports the detected format, feature count and coordinate-system evidence before starting the job. Treat a low-confidence or missing CRS as a data question to resolve, not a value the converter should silently guess.
